Faculty Classroom Checklist

How To

Verify a room suits your technology needs at the beginning of a semester.

Resolution

Follow the steps listed below to check the technology in your classroom before your first day of classes.
Classroom Checklist

  • Visit your classroom prior to the start of the semester to make sure the software you need is on your classroom computer.
  • If you need software added...
    • Request it at least three weeks in advance through the Service Desk (314-977-4000).
    • Once notified that the software has been installed, return to the class to double-check everything.
  • Know Your SLU Net ID and Password
    • You will need to know your SLU Net ID and Password in order to log into the classroom computer.
    • Point your browser to https://auth.slu.edu/ prior to visiting the classroom to ensure your login information is working properly.
  • Bring Your Cables and/or Adapters
    • If you are planning to bring your laptop into the classroom, please make sure to bring any necessary items to connect to the classroom system. Most classrooms have HDMI, Display Port, and VGA cables. For example, if you have a Mac, you will need to bring an appropriate Thunderbolt adapter to use with one of these cables. Again, these are best tested and confirmed before the first day of class to eliminate issues stemming from incorrect assumptions.
  • Call For Help
    • If you need report urgent technology issues that occur during class, press the "4099 Support button" on the classroom touchscreen or call 314-977-4099.
    • If you notice an issue that you can work around, but still should be addressed, please call 314-977-4000 after class to report it.
    • Remember, if you do not call and report the issue, ITS won't know there is a problem.
  • Have a Back-Up Plan
    • Even the best technology will have problems periodically; always have a backup plan.
