How to setup the Zoom LTI in Canvas

Via the Zoom LTI, Zoom now integrates directly into your Canvas courses. Use this tool to schedule and start meetings for specific courses. It will automatically save recordings to your Course Folder in Panopto and will display scheduled meetings on the Canvas calendar. Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Ensure Panopto has created a course folder for your course. You can do this by clicking on the Panopto Video tab in your Canvas course which will then have Panopto generate a folder (done automatically and immediately after clicking on Panopto Video).
  2. Make sure the Zoom tab is visible in Canvas. Head to your Canvas course page and click Settings on the bottom left menu. Select Navigation from the top menu. There will be two lists shown - one on the top, and one on the bottom. The top list shows what is pinned to your left menu bar and the bottom list shows what’s hidden. Drag the Zoom page from the bottom list to the top and click Save at the bottom of the page.
  3. Go into the Zoom tab you just made visible and click Schedule a New Meeting. Fill in the relevant information for your meeting and make sure to check the boxes that say record meeting automatically and In the Cloud. This Zoom meeting will be recorded to Zoom’s cloud and then Panopto will pull it over to your course folder. This can take some time, especially for longer videos, expect 1-2 hours.
