How to Download and Save a Panopto Video

This article explains how to download your Panopto videos as MP4 video files so you can upload them somewhere else, save them, or edit them using an external video editor.

  1. Log into auth.slu.edu and click on the Panopto tile.
  2. Navigate to the video you want to download.
  3. Hover over the video and select Settings (the cogwheel icon) from the upper-right corner.
  4. In the Settings window, select the Outputs tab from the left-hand navigation. 
  5. There are various output options: Panopto Web Viewer, Video Podcast (this is what Panopto calls your video) or audio only.
  6. To get a complete version of your Panopto video, including any slides and narration, choose Picture-in-Picture. You can adjust the quality also. It defaults to 720dpi.

  7. Click Download Podcast to save your video. This will save the video in the MP4 format.
  8.  You can store it on your computer or personal storage device or upload it to Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive or any other cloud storage area.
