How to request alternate verification methods for Okta enrollment.

Resolution

Call or email the SLU help desk, letting them know that you need special accommodations when registering in Okta.

Once you receive confirmation that your account has been modified, search for an email from IT Service Desk with the subject line "Activate Your SLU Net ID with Okta." If this link has expired, you will be presented with a link to request a new one. 

Upon locating/receiving your email invitation to create your new SLU Net ID password, click “RESET PASSWORD”

Enter your new password, following the requirements, and enter it a second time in the "Repeat new password" field.

Choose and answer your "forgot password question"

Select a picture to use as a security image and click "Create My Account."

You will see a list of authentication options. These are the methods used during login to verify your identity

The two authentication options that are most secure and highly recommended are Okta Verify and SMS Authentication (text message)

Authentication Options

Okta Verify for iPhone

.Click the “Set up” button next to Okta Verify.

Select the “iPhone” option and click the “Next” button.

On your Apple iOS device:
Launch the App Store, search for "Okta Verify" and install the application.

Launch Okta Verify and Tap the “Get Started” button, tap the “Next” button and tap the “Add Account” button.

Select “Organization” as an account type, tap “Scan a QR Code” and allow access to the camera, if prompted.

Returning to your computer, using your android device to scan the QR code:

Scan the code with your Apple iOS device camera, allowing notifications if prompted.

Okta Verify for Android

Click the “Set up” button next to Okta Verify.

Select the “Android” option and click the “Next” button.

On your Android device:
Launch the Play Store, search for "Okta Verify" and install the application.

Launch Okta Verify and Tap the “Get Started” button, tap the “Next” button and tap the “Add Account” button.

Select “Organization” as an account type, tap “Scan a QR Code” and allow access to the camera, if prompted.

Returning to your computer, using your android device to scan the QR code:
Scan the code with your Android device camera, allowing notifications when prompted.

SMS Authentication

Click the “Set up” button next to "SMS Authentication"

Select the country for your phone number and enter your phone number in the phone number field.

Click the “Send code” button.

You will receive a text message with a one-time-pin to enter in the “Enter code” field. Click “Verify” to proceed.
