Overview:
InfoED SPIN (Sponsored Programs Information Network) is a web-based funding opportunity search platform that helps Saint Louis University researchers identify external and internal funding opportunities.
The platform provides access to funding announcements from federal agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sponsoring organizations. Researchers can search for opportunities based on discipline, sponsor type, funding amount, eligibility criteria, and award type. InfoED SPIN is accessible through a standard web browser and is integrated with SLU's authentication systems for secure access.
Primary Purpose:
InfoED SPIN supports research development and grant seeking activities by providing tools to:
1. Discover Funding Opportunities
- Search active funding opportunities from federal, state, foundation, corporate, and internal sponsors
- Identify research grants, training grants, fellowships, travel awards, and other funding mechanisms
2. Advanced Funding Searches
- Filter opportunities by discipline, sponsor type, funding amount, and eligibility requirements
- Conduct targeted searches to identify relevant funding sources
3. Personalized Funding Monitoring
- Create saved searches
- Configure funding alerts and notifications to receive updates on newly posted opportunities that match research interests
Integration with University Systems:
InfoED SPIN integrates with SLU identity management services to provide secure access:
Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Authentication is provided through SLU's Okta platform using InCommon Federation
- Users can access the platform using their SLU credentials
Accessing InfoED SPIN:
There are two primary ways to access InfoED SPIN:
1. Direct Access
- Navigate to the InfoED SPIN login page: InfoED SPIN Login
- Select the SLU authentication option if prompted
- Sign in using your SLU credentials
2. Through SLU Authentication Services
- Log in through SLU's Okta portal
- Launch InfoED SPIN from the available applications
- Authenticate using your SLU credentials
User Roles:
Researchers, Faculty, Staff, and Students
- Search for funding opportunities
- Create and save funding searches
- Set up funding alerts and notifications
- Track opportunities relevant to their research interests
Research Administration and Development Personnel
- Support researchers in identifying funding opportunities
- Provide guidance on search strategies and funding programs

- InfoED SPIN is a fully web-based application
- Supported on major modern web browsers
- No software installation is required
- Access requires an active SLU account
- Some advanced features may require creation and approval of a SPIN user profile
