Overview:
This guide walks you through transferring your Okta Verify account from your old phone to a new one. The steps below work for both Android and IOS (iPhone).
Prerequisites:
Before beginning this process, please be sure to have your original phone with the active Okta Verify account along with your new phone.
NOTE: You will need to have the following security setting enabled on your phone before beginning the process
- iPhone
- "Face ID or Passcode Confirmation"
- Android
- "Screen lock confirmation"
To access this setting:
- Open the Okta Verify app on your OLD phone
- Press on the arrow facing right on the associated SLU account
- Scroll down until you find the Security section
- Toggle the "Face ID or Passcode Confirmation" // "Screen lock confirmation" slider
- Verify your identity by pressing the blue Next button
- Press the Continue to Verification button
- Sign in on the following SLU sign in screen
- Verify it's you by selecting your preferred multi-factor method (Get a push notification)
- On the next screen, enter your password and select Verify
- Setup is now complete, you may move onto the next section below
Directions:
- Download Okta Verify app from app store onto your new phone (Android/iPhone)
- Open the Okta Verify app on your old phone
- Press on the arrow facing right on the associated SLU account
- Scroll down to the bottom and press “Add account to another device”
- If prompted, verify with your Face, Fingerprint, or Phone pin lock
- Open the Okta Verify app on the new phone
- Press Get Started
- Press next
- Press add account
- Press Organization
- Press Add account from another device
- Press allow Bluetooth
- Press Scan QR code
- Allow Okta Verify to take pictures and record videos
- Scan the QR code on the old phone
- Enter the code on the old phone, given from the new phone
- Enable Screen Lock
- Press Done
Once these steps are completed the account is added to the new phone and will work as intended.
