Adding Okta Verify to Windows for Multi-Factor Authentication

Overview: 

Okta is the SLU's security solution that handles single sign-on (SSO) password management and multi-factor authentication (MFA). The instructions below step you through the process of adding Okta Verify on a Windows computer to authenticate your already existing university account.

Directions for Windows Using a Direct Link:

CLICK HERE if you would prefer to use a document that includes these instructions accompanied with screen captures that show you what you should see on your Windows device during this process. Otherwise, follow the instructions below.

  1. CLICK HERE to download the Okta Verify Windows Client.
  2. Once the download is complete, click on the file from the download window in your web browser to launch the application.
  3. Click the check box beside the license agreement and click Install below to the right.
  4. Let the application finish the installation process. When it says Install complete, click Finish below to the right.
  5. Click on the Search Bar at the bottom of the screen and type Okta Verify. Upon locating the application, click on it to run it.
  6. When Okta Verify launches, click the blue Get started button.
  7. When you finish reading How it works, click the blue Next button.
  8. Under the New account heading, type auth.slu.edu and click the blue Next button.
  9. Okta Verify will then have your web browser prompt you to confirm your identity. Log in with your username and password and then authenticate with your current MFA method.
  10. If prompted to Enable Windows Hello, click the Skip button.
  11. At this point you should see your account added to the main Okta Verify screen.
  12. Click the minimize button for this Okta Verify window, and you won’t be prompted again for MFA during your session.
  13. The next time you receive a prompt to select an MFA security method, you will see an option for Use Okta FastPass (Okta Verify).

  1. Direct your web browser to auth.slu.edu and click on the button at the top that says Sign in with Okta FastPass.
  2. Click on the Download here link below the question, Don’t have Okta Verify?
  3. Once the download is complete, click on the file from the download window in your web browser to launch the application.
  4. Click the check box beside the license agreement and click Install below to the right.
  5. Let the application finish the installation process. When it says Install complete, click Finish below to the right.
  6. Click on the Search Bar at the bottom of the screen and type Okta Verify. Upon locating the application, click on it to run it.
  7. When Okta Verify launches, click the blue Get started button.
