The Growing with Canvas course is the first step to understanding this tool. This course has been shared with you through Canvas and provides a firm foundation for how to use Canvas while providing you a context for your next step. Recordings of  seminars offered by Canvas trainers are available inside the Modules of Growing with Canvas.

After you’ve taken this short introductory course, you’ll have an idea which of the following paths work for you:

  1. Self-Learning
  2. One-on-One Consultation

Self-Learning:

This path is the most immediate and can be utilized at any time because it’s only dependent upon your time and need. Once you’ve gotten an idea of what’s involved in Canvas from the Growing with Canvas course, you can search a wealth of articles with answers to most of the questions you would ask.

  • SLU hosts dozens of knowledge base articles at ask.slu.edu. These include explanations of how to SLU-specific needs like handling grades or accessing lecture capture videos hosted through Panopto.
  • Canvas has integrated help. To use it:
    1. Click on Help in the navigation bar to the left.
    2. Click on the revealed Chat with Canvas option that appears.
    3. You'll be connected to live help.
NOTE: The Canvas staff who answer that line have access to SLU courses, but will only enter your course with your permission.

One-on-One Consultation:

Sometimes we don’t know what questions to ask. In this case, it can help to have an expert shed some light on the situation. If you’re unsure about something, our instructional technologists are here to help you restore sure footing to journey forth. Just email facsupport@slu.edu.
