How do I set up SMS text message verification in Okta?

Benefits

With SMS Text Message Verification, you will be able to receive a one-time-pin via your cell phone to verify your identity during login.

Resolution

On your computer:
Use your web browser and navigate to the account security portal at https://auth.slu.edu/. Then enter your SLU Net ID and password and select the “Submit” button. 

Verify your identity using the available multi-factor method. (Voice verification was set up during Okta enrollment.)

Once logged in, click on your name in the upper-right corner and select “Settings”

Scroll down to the bottom to the “Extra Verification” options. Click the “Set up” button next to "SMS Authentication"

Select the country for your phone number and enter your phone number in the phone number field.

Click the “Send code” button.

You will receive a text message with a one-time-pin to enter in the “Enter code” field. Click “Verify” to proceed.
