How to Request TA (Grader) Access for Undergraduate TAs in Canvas

This article shows the steps involved in getting undergraduate TAs (UGTAs) TA access with grading privileges in Canvas.

Undergraduate TAs (UGTAs) may get TA access in Canvas with grading privileges if they have a signed confidentiality agreement in AppXtender.

NOTE: Departmental admins should have access to AppXtender but faculty do not.

Here are the steps that must be completed in order for them to get access:

1. Prior to being assigned to a class, each UGTA is required to fill out a confidentiality form (attached).
2. Department admins upload the signed documents to AppXtender in Internet Native Banner (INB).
3. Office of the Registrar runs a query in AppXtender to confirm the documents are uploaded.
4. Office of the Registrar marks them as faculty in INB and marks the document as processed.
5. After processing (usually the next day) they can be added as faculty worth 0% effort in CourseLeaf (CLSS).
6. This adds them to the Canvas course with TA access.
