Overview
GitHub is a platform where you can store, share, and work together with others to write code. It is widely used in higher education, research, and industry to support collaborative software development, data analysis, documentation, and other technical projects.
GitHub is built on Git, an open‑source version control system that makes collaborative work possible by intelligently tracking changes to files over time.
At Saint Louis University (SLU), GitHub is provided through a GitHub Enterprise Cloud educational license, giving the university a centrally managed, secure environment for teaching, research, and administrative development.
