Save Emails from Gmail

Forward Emails

  1. Sign in to Gmail with your SLU Google credentials.
  2. Open the email you want to keep.
  3. Click Forward and send it to your personal email address.

Tip: To save time, you can select multiple emails, click Forward, and send them to your personal address in a single message.

Save Emails as .eml Files

  1. Sign in to Gmail with your SLU Google credentials.
  2. Open the email you want to save.
  3. Click the three-dot menu () in the upper-right corner of the message.
  4. Select Download message.
  5. The email will be saved as an .eml file, which can be opened in most email applications.

Download Files from Google Drive

  1. Sign in to Google Drive with your SLU Google credentials.
  2. Select the files or folders you want to download.
  3. Right-click and select Download.
  4. If you selected multiple items, they will be downloaded as a single .zip file.
  5. Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides will be automatically converted to their Microsoft Office equivalents (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx).

Tip: If you have a large number of files, download them in batches by folder to avoid timeouts.

Export Google Calendar

  1. Sign in to Google Calendar with your SLU Google credentials.
  2. Click the Settings gear icon, then select Settings.
  3. In the left sidebar, select Import & export.
  4. Under Export, click Export. A .zip file containing .ics files for each of your calendars will download.
  5. These .ics files can be imported into Outlook, Apple Calendar, or other calendar applications.
