Overview:

IBM SPSS Statistics is a statistical analysis software package used by Saint Louis University faculty, staff, and students for quantitative research, data management, statistical modeling, and reporting. SPSS provides a graphical user interface and syntax-based tools for data analysis across academic, administrative, and research functions.

Primary Purpose:

SPSS supports teaching, learning, institutional research, and scholarly research activities across the University by providing tools for:

  • Descriptive statistics
  • Inferential statistics
  • Regression analysis
  • Survey analysis
  • Predictive analytics
  • Data management and transformation
  • Research methodology instruction

 

Accessing SPSS:

The application is available for academic research purposes on University-owned or personal machines only. The University has purchased a set number of SPSS licenses that ITS is able to resell to University departments. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

1. Campus Computer Labs

SPSS is available in the Campus Computer Labs and in the Academic Technology Commons (ATC) in Pius Library.

2. Personal computer

Information on purchasing an individual license for a person computer can be found on the Software Downloads and Discounts page.

 

User Roles:

Researchers, Faculty, Staff, and Students

 

Technical Notes:

  • SPSS/AMOS access in the labs is granted via a license server managed by the Academic Applications Team.
  • Individual license keys are available for the IT Service Desk and Student Services Desk to apply on individual machines.
