Setup a Writing Assignment in Beacon

Introduction

The below steps outline how to create a writing assignment in Beacon as a faculty member.

How To

  1. Create a Canvas Assignment
    1. Submission Type should be “Online” and select “File Uploads”
    2. (Optional) Add a rubric within the assignment.
  2. Log in to https://beacon.slu.edu
    1. (Optional)  go to https://MySlu.slu.edu​​​​​​​ and search for Beacon
  3. Link the Canvas Assignment in Beacon
    1. Go to My Teaching > Courses
    2. Click your Course and find your Assignment
    3. Click the Link icon
    4. Choose drop-down Assignment Type
    5. Select Writing Assignment
    6. (Optional) Select Timed Assignment to choose a time limit.
