Overview
This article provides instructions for accessing IBM SPSS 30 through SLU's Citrix environment from both on-campus and off-campus locations. It also includes guidance on opening and saving files from your local computer while using SPSS in Citrix.
Prerequisites
Before accessing SPSS 30, ensure that you have:
- A valid SLU account and password.
- Citrix Workspace App installed on your device.
- A supported web browser (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
- A stable internet connection when accessing off-campus.
Accessing SPSS 30

Open a web browser and navigate to:
https://access.sluapps.org/Citrix/ExternalWeb/

Sign in using your SLU credentials.

If prompted to install or detect Citrix Workspace App, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

After successful authentication, you will be presented with the available Citrix applications.

Locate and click the SPSS 30 application.

Wait for the application to launch. Once opened, you can begin using IBM SPSS 30.
If an ICA File Downloads Instead of Launching SPSS
In some cases, your browser may download a file with an .ica extension instead of automatically launching the application.
- Locate the downloaded
.ica file.
- Double-click the file.
- Ensure Citrix Workspace App is installed on your computer.
- SPSS 30 should launch automatically.
If the application does not launch, reinstall or repair Citrix Workspace App and try again.
Opening Local Files in SPSS
You can access files stored on your local computer while using SPSS through Citrix.

In SPSS, select File > Open > Data (or the appropriate file option).

If prompted with a Citrix Workspace Security Warning, you may see the following options:
- Block Access
- Allow Read Only Access
- Permit All Access

Select Permit All Access to allow SPSS to open and save files on your local computer.

In the file browser window, locate the Look in: drop-down menu.

Select your local computer drive, typically displayed as:
Local Disk (C: on <ComputerName>)

Browse to the desired file and open it.
Saving Files
When saving your work:

Select File > Save As.

Choose a location on your local computer, such as:
- Documents
- Desktop
- Downloads
- Local Disk (C:)

Save the file.
Troubleshooting
SPSS 30 Is Not Visible
- Log out of Citrix and sign in again.
- Verify that you have been assigned access to SPSS 30.
- Contact the Service Desk if the application is still unavailable.
ICA File Downloads Repeatedly
- Verify that Citrix Workspace App is installed.
- Ensure
.ica files are associated with Citrix Workspace App.
- Restart the browser and try again.
Unable to Login
- Verify that your SLU credentials are correct.
- Confirm that your account is not locked or expired.
- Try signing in from a different browser.
Unable to Open Local Files
- Disconnect and reconnect your Citrix session.
- When prompted by Citrix Workspace, select Permit All Access.
- Verify that local drive access is not restricted by local security settings.
Application Fails to Launch
- Close all Citrix sessions and try again.
- Restart Citrix Workspace App.
- Reboot your device if necessary.
- Contact the Service Desk if the issue persists.

- SPSS 30 is delivered through the SLU Citrix environment.
- An active Citrix session is required to access the application.
- For best performance, use the latest version of Citrix Workspace App.
